CONSTRUCTION HEALTH & SAFETY AGENT SERVICES
Under the Construction Regulations of 2014 (Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993), a Construction Health and Safety (CHSA) Agent is a competent professional appointed by the client to manage health and safety throughout a construction project. This role encompasses strategic planning, implementation, and oversight of health and safety measures to ensure full regulatory compliance. CHS Agents must be registered with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
Value of Appointing a CHS Agent:
- Specialised Compliance Expertise: Ensures alignment with legal and industry-specific health and safety standards.
- Effective Risk Management: Facilitates comprehensive risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Safety Culture Advancement: Strengthens workplace safety awareness and employee wellbeing.
- Operational Efficiency: Minimises project delays and disruptions through proactive health and safety planning.
- Enhanced Credibility: Demonstrates responsible governance boosting trust with stakeholders and regulators.
While the CHS Agent designation is construction-specific, the principles underpinning health and safety management are applicable across multiple sectors—including automotive, public, and general industries—where construction activities occur.
